What Information We Collect and Why

When you visit our website

When you browse quiltgeek.com, we automatically collect some technical information that doesn't identify you directly — things like your IP address, browser type, operating system, and which pages you visit. We use this to understand how the site is used and to keep it running well.

We also use cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality — see the Cookies section below.

When you use the Quilt Geek app

Quilt Geek is available to download for free on the App Store and Google Play. Two calculators are always available without a subscription. A paid subscription (monthly or annual) unlocks full access to all calculators and charts.

When the app is installed, it automatically generates an anonymous user ID. This ID is managed by RevenueCat and is used to track your subscription status. We can see subscription data associated with these IDs, but we cannot identify individual users from them alone.

When you use the app, we may collect limited technical data — such as device type, operating system version, and app version — to keep the app running well and to fix issues. We do not use this data for advertising.

If you grant permission, we may send you push notifications about app updates or features. You can turn these off in your device settings at any time.

Subscribing via the App Store or Google Play

Subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store are processed entirely by Apple or Google. We do not receive your name, email address, or any payment details — everything is handled by the respective platform. The subscription receipt is linked to your anonymous RevenueCat user ID to activate your access.

Subscribing via the web (Paddle)

Subscriptions can also be purchased on the web, processed by Paddle.com Market Limited (18–29 Mora St, London, EC1V 8BT, UK), who acts as the Merchant of Record. For web purchases, we receive your email address (used for your receipt, redemption link, and subscription management), your billing address, and your transaction history. Payment details are processed by Paddle — we do not store your card information. Transaction data is synced with RevenueCat to activate your subscription.

Paddle privacy policy: paddle.com/legal/privacy

After your purchase, you receive a one-time redemption link by email. Opening this link on your device connects your Paddle transaction to your anonymous RevenueCat user ID, activating your subscription. This is the only point at which your email address is linked to your in-app user ID. Redemption links expire after 60 minutes — if yours expires, a new one is sent automatically.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and manage the Quilt Geek app and your active subscription
  • Send you transactional emails — subscription receipts and redemption links
  • Manage your subscription entitlements across App Store, Google Play, and web purchases via RevenueCat
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Understand how Quilt Geek is used and improve it
  • Detect and prevent fraud and abuse
  • Comply with our legal obligations

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We process your personal information on the following legal grounds:

Performance of a contract — when you subscribe, we process your data to deliver what you've asked for.

Legitimate interests — for fraud prevention, platform security, and improving our services. We only do this where our interests don't override your rights.

Legal obligation — where we're required to retain or disclose information by law (for example, financial records for tax purposes).

Third-Party Services We Use

We work with trusted service providers to operate Quilt Geek. They are all contractually required to protect your data and process it only as we instruct.

When We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these specific circumstances:

With service providers. The third-party services listed above need access to certain information to help us operate Quilt Geek. All providers are bound by data processing agreements.

When required by law. Our policy is to not respond to government or law enforcement requests for user data unless we are compelled by a valid legal process or court order. If we receive a valid request, we will notify affected users unless we are legally prohibited from doing so.

We may share information in response to valid court orders, subpoenas, or other legal processes required by applicable law. If law enforcement authorities present the necessary warrant, criminal subpoena, or court order, we must comply. We may disclose information without prior notice in emergency situations where there is an imminent threat to physical safety or to prevent serious harm.

For tax and financial compliance. If we are audited by tax authorities, we may be required to disclose billing-related information. If this happens, we will disclose only the minimum information necessary.

Data preservation requests. We will comply with requests to preserve data only if we receive a valid subpoena or court order. Preserved data will be destroyed at the end of the preservation period unless we receive a valid legal request for disclosure.

To protect rights and safety. We may share information when investigating fraud, security issues, or violations of our Terms and Conditions, or to protect against harm to the rights, property, or safety of Designed to Quilt, our users, or the public.

In the event of a business transfer. If we are acquired by or merge with another company, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Where Your Data Is Stored

We operate from Slovenia. Our website is hosted via Cloudflare, and some of our other service providers also store and process data in the United States.

Where personal data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards — including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission — to ensure your data is protected to GDPR standards. We have Data Processing Agreements in place with all relevant providers.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies on quiltgeek.com for essential functionality only. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings; note that disabling cookies may affect some site functionality.

How Long We Keep Your Information

  • Quilt Geek anonymous user ID and subscription data (via RevenueCat) — for as long as your subscription is active or the app is in use, and up to 6 months after your last recorded activity
  • Transaction and billing records — as required by Slovenian tax law (generally 10 years)

When data is no longer needed and no legal obligation requires us to keep it, we delete or anonymize it securely.

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS) for all services
  • Access controls based on role requirements
  • Secure password handling by our authentication and payment providers
  • Regular review and update of our security practices

No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. We encourage you to use strong, unique passwords for any accounts you create with our service providers.

Children's Privacy

Our services are intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us at hello@designedtoquilt.com and we will delete it promptly.

Your Rights

We provide comprehensive data rights to all users, regardless of location.

Right to know. This privacy policy outlines what information we collect and how we use it.

Right to access. You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you by contacting us at hello@designedtoquilt.com.

Right to correction. You can ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete information we hold about you.

Right to deletion. You can request that we delete your personal data:

  • Quilt Geek (Paddle web purchase): contact us to request deletion of your email address, billing data, and associated RevenueCat subscription record. Transaction records required for tax compliance will be retained for the legally required period.
  • Quilt Geek (App Store / Google Play): your anonymous RevenueCat user ID contains no personal data identifiable to us. If you wish it deleted, contact us and we will remove it from our RevenueCat records.

Right to data portability. You can request an export of your data in a portable format by contacting us at hello@designedtoquilt.com.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@designedtoquilt.com. We will respond within 30 days.

EEA, UK, and Switzerland

Under the GDPR and equivalent laws, you also have the right to restriction of processing and not to be subject to solely automated decision-making. If you believe we are processing your data unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority. In Slovenia, this is the Informacijski pooblaščenec: ip-rs.si.

Do-Not-Track and Global Privacy Control

We do not currently respond to Do-Not-Track (DNT) browser signals. We do recognize and honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals — if your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out of the sale or sharing of your data for targeted advertising purposes.

US State Residents

If you are a resident of California or another US state with applicable privacy legislation, you may have additional rights, including the right to know, access, correct, and delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@designedtoquilt.com.
